Universities/Public Institutions
Berlin is home to many grand universities and colleges, such as the historical Humboldt University where Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels and Albert Einstein were some of the students to climb the steps of this famous institution. The Freie University is the largest in Berlin and was newly awarded “elite university” status by the German Science Foundation for its quality of research in the fields of the Humanities, Health, Social and Natural Sciences. The University of Potsdam has the privilege of its location being classified as World Heritage Sights by UNESCO, situated in the fairytale landscape of the Park of Sanssouci. There are several other well known educational institutions such as the Technical University and the Social College Alice Salomon.
